It is indeed a beautiful morning and it looks like the whole day will be sunny and bright. I feel so blessed and so happy. I know exactly how this little girl feels in this picture.

I finished another motif on "Quaker Diamonds" yesterday and will be stitching in more letters today. The motif is the one on the lower left. A lot of counting and

concentration is going into this one, but I'm still loving the looks of it and the colors.
More done on my shawl. I have nearly a whole ball of yarn still and have just attached it to the shawl, so it will be good sized when finished. I take it with me in the afternoons so I can work on it while waiting for Matt. You can see that it is

actually a little longer that what it looks like here. Didn't have it straightened out in the back.
I've joined the Random Acts of Kindness Blog and the ladies over there are so sweet. It's a fun blog and lots of great ladies to meet. As a matter of fact! My newest follower is also a member over there. Meet, Anne. She has some great blogs herself and here's one right here. http://dollsmusings.blogspot.com/ Beautiful pictures and beautiful stitching of all kinds. Please stop over for a visit.

We'll be taking Matt, our grandson, after school to see the Coast Guard's tall ship, the Eagle. It was supposed to be in port yesterday, but due to the storms and winds, she was running behind. She should be docking this morning and the tours are free of charge. It will be interesting and fun, with dinner out afterwards. Here she is here.

I was looking at all the little wildflowers in the school's lawn the other day and just had to get a couple of pictures. This one of course had gone by, but I thought the yellow ends left were so sweet. Very delicate.

Here's another. Tiny little thing, but pretty color.
Going to let ya'll go for this time. You all mean so much to me and I thank you for your visits as well as your wonderful comments. Until next time, be well and safe and don't forget to "feel the colors".
Yes. We're keeping busy and so thankful that God has given us healthy bodies to do so. Between walking, yoga and just plain simple exercise moves, we're keeping up.
We've also had some work (restarted) at our house. Where we removed the wall between the kitchen and living room, was a gaping unfinished opening. It is now finished off and has the first coat of muddying done. It already looks brighter, but it will be neat to have lots of things finished so I can start painting. Benjamin Moore's "castleton mist" will be used for the living room. Matches the new furniture nicely and will brighten everything up.
I've been taking the shawl that I'm crocheting with me when I pick our grandson Matthew up from school in the afternoon. I get there early enough so I can work on it for a few minutes before school is out. Here it is so far. The colors aren't what

I expected them to be when I ordered the yarn, but that's okay. It's working up nicely for sure. Pattern is easy.
Have also added a couple more tiny motifs and letters on my "Quaker Diamonds"...... Still enjoying this stitch.

I was out in the yard a few days ago and happened to look down and saw all these little hearts! I never realized that the leaves on my Eucalyptus tree were actually shaped like hearts. On the branch they aren't noticed, but once fallen and open, you can see them. I will have to collect some of these and use them later for
some type of craft. They could be painted or left as they are. I'm afraid actually that with the winter being as cold as it was, I may have lost the tree all together. I've never had the leaves fall off in the past. Time will tell.

I was ready to say that it has, but here we have a day that is so bitterly cold due to a strong wind. The sun is shining nice and bright though and Bill has the wood stove going. So it's warm and cozy inside.
I do have to also show you some things here in this part of NC that tells me it is indeed very close to spring. First the Hyacinths in the back yard.

I've been doing some crocheting on my shawl and it's nearly done. Next blog, I'll post a picture for ya'll to see. I've also been stitching on my "Quaker Diamonds" piece also. Things seem to become so busy at times that I feel that I neglect my needlework, but I do what I want to do at the time and have no regrets. I enjoy my needlework, and I also enjoy my family and great friend. I am blessed beyond words.

Speaking of busy.....We're getting some work done on the house starting today. Well the work was actually started quite some time back and we ran out of know how as well as ambition I think. So some finishing up and all will be underway and hopefully, once most of it is indeed done, I'll be painting all the rooms. That's the exciting part to me! It's all about color you know!

I see that I have some new followers and I thank you for stopping in and deciding that my blog is worth it! I love each and every one of you and am so glad you're here. I'll be visiting ya'll as well and will mention your blogs on here as I do visit.

Until next time. Be safe and well. Stay warm and enjoy all the blessings each and every day. Of course one last thing... Remember to "feel the colors".
As the title indicates, I've been doing a little of this and a little of that. Just enjoying what there is to do and to work with. Seems there are never enough hours in the day though, and I know a lot of you feel the same way.

I do want to post this picture which I just never got around to when I took it. I want to prove to all my dear friends and followers here that you're always on my mind. I saw this vehicle last fall and just knew that there were two reasons I needed to take the picture. I love colors and this seemed to have so many of them, but the most important reason was the fact that all these frogs were in one area at once. For my friends who love to cross stitch, you'll be pleased to know that I told these creatures to stay right where they were first of all. Also! They're stuck on that vehicle pretty darn good, so they aren't going anywhere on their own for sure! Excellent. They even tried to trick me when I checked out the

back of the vehicle. Where there are cross stitch lovers, no frogs come in peace!

I've been working on a little whimsical nest for my little daughter-in-law for her birthday today. He name is Robin and she loves blues, so went with blues and whites for the most part. I have a teeny tiny felt craft Robin in the nest itself under a feather. I do hope she'll like it.

Can you see the tiny bird peeking out?

Have been enjoying my cross stitching and have been working a little on "Stitcher's Language". Loving it. Such pretty colors.

I also got the yarn that I had ordered for the shawl, and after three tries, I finally caught on and am moving right along now. I've knitted since I was five and thought I'd never run across a problem understanding a pattern, but this one did challenge me. I'm liking the results though as the colors change. I'll keep

you posted on this one as it grows. Yarn is very soft so it won't be scratchy around the neck.

I could kick myself today! Bill and I and David got together yesterday and I never thought about bringing my camera. The three of us always have a great time. First stop was a once a year inside yard sale where we all found some things. We went into downtown New Bern to the farmer's market. A second hand store that David showed us. Loved the store! Huge with so many and all kinds of different items. David and I had to laugh as my son has been looking for a hand juicer for oranges for "years" he says. Has "never been able to find one" he had told me. "New or used! Never! Not anywhere!" LOL. We found about a dozen or more in this store yesterday, and yes, I did pick one up for him.
Looked for egg cups for him also, but didn't see any at all. We then went out to get some fresh fried flounder. A wonderful day.

I just looked and the outside temperature is 72 right now. A wonderful sunny day. We see also that there is another storm coming across the states that will probably come our way as well, and we won't be welcoming it for sure. I shouldn't be complaining though, as we have had it easy compared to so many other parts of the US.

Well my dear friends and followers. I will let you be for this time around. It's Sunday! Kick back and relax before the work week starts up. You all have a safe week and be well. Love each and every one of you, and don't forget to "feel those colors".
I am indeed still working on my cross stitching and enjoying it, but wanted to get this chair all fixed up as a house warming gift to a very special friend. Finished it this morning with two coats of paste wax. I did stress the wood here and there by sanding or scraping some of the paint off before I put the MinWax stain on it. I enjoyed the project.

Back to my stitching this afternoon. Finished another motif on the "Quaker Diamonds" and my sewing room is nice and bright. It's a beautiful sunny day with a temperature of 59 at this time. Here's the latest finished motif.

I am also awaiting some beautiful yarn to make a shawl. I'll give out more information on this as time goes on, but if anyone wants a sneak preview, you can to to http://quietlystitching.blogspot.com/ About half way down the page you'll see a beautiful crocheted shawl. I'll be using the same yarn for mine. Hazel has done a beautiful job on hers for sure.

I will let ya'll go for the time being. Love you all, and until next time please stay warm and be well. Don't forget to "feel the colors".

Valentine's Day is so very close, so I decided to dress my dining table with the pretties I've made. I really enjoyed working with the different shades of pinks and reds. Setting this up every year reminds hubby just how much he means to me.

It looks like we have another winter storm on the way. More rain, ice and sleet along with snow. I think maybe the schools will be closed tomorrow. We'll see, but Matthew, our grandson has his fingers crossed that we will indeed get all that is forecast-ed. Bill and I are just ready for spring weather and we're hoping that it will slide in very soon.

I made up a little tiny pillow and a couple of facecloths for my son in NH and his sweet little wife. I should have also taken a picture when all were placed in the box for the mail. It looked so pretty with deep read narrow bows tied around the cloths and the pillow completed. Here's the before finishes though.

I've been working on two cross stitch pieces at a time! 99% of the time I have one, and only one piece that I'm working on. I have mentioned the two in previous posts, so I won't bore you with the details again, but I am enjoying both.

I'll be getting a spring giveaway together soon, and I think that I'll make it another "non stitchy fun box" like I did for my last giveaway. I know that many of my followers share my joy in stitching, but many do not. A spring fun filled box would be enjoyed by all I think, so I'm going to stick with that idea.

Welcome to so many new followers. I love the fact that people want to know other people and that they can meet others from all over the world so easily now. Welcome to all of my sweet friends and followers. Love each and every one of you.
Anyone who has followed me for a while now, knows my love of colors. I really do think that if you love color, you can indeed feel it. Wouldn't it be something if the world was black and white? Oh my! Thank you Father for all the beautiful colors you've given us. Just in people alone. Look at the amazing warm and beautiful colors in this picture.

I will let you all get back to your day, or night. Thank you for stopping in. Until next time, stay warm and well, and don't forget to "feel the colors".
Yes! This is the second new moon of the month and I'm happy to see that there are more snips and bits in my T.U.S.A.L. container. As I call it, "my snips and bits jar". You can see some softer colors from "Quaker Diamonds" and some greens and violets and blues from "Language of a Cross Stitcher". Love both pieces, and here are the results in the jar.

This second picture is what I have completed so far on "Quaker Stitches". I'm using the colors that the designer calls for and I'm loving the results. A ways to go yet, but a lot done as well.

Just a quick post for today. It's still very cold outside, but we have a nice fire going in the wood stove and it's so snugly warm inside. I'm taking advantage of the light coming through the living room window by stitching in there rather than in my stitching chair. The couch is a great place to nap besides!

Thank you again to all my new followers. I'll be touching base with each of you over the next few days. In the meantime, I'm glad your here. I love all my dear friends and followers here. So until next time.....Stay safe, well and warm, and don't forget to "feel the colors".

We've been here in NC for ten years now, and this is the very first winter storm that we've been threatened with. Right now it's a cold and raw 30 degrees. Bill has just covered the wind shields of both vehicles in case we get the freezing rain they're predicting. I can remember in NH how during the huge winter storms, we would sit and watch from our living room windows or from the kitchen. The sound of the huge plows cleaning off the road and distributing the sand and salt. I sure don't miss the long winters up there, but do have some wonderful memories of them.
So today, we're inside with the wood stove going and we're seeing that the wind is picking up as expected. All schools are closed in our county as well as many other surrounding us. We didn't have to make any emergency trips to the store for anything and I have some good meals to hold us over planned. We're warm and cozy, and my stitching chair is calling me.
Some pictures for you today. Close to being done on the motif I've been working on for "Quaker Diamonds". I broke down and after being determined topget a copy of another chart I once had, I put this aside for a few days, and started

this one below. It's called, "Language of a Cross Stitcher Sampler" and is designed by Tonia Pappan. I have searched off and on for it to download for so long. I had all the threads and fabric bought for it long ago. So once I found it, I just had to start it. Here first is the only picture I've had of the piece all along. It was done by one of Tonia's followers with the blue fabric. Simple but so pretty

with just 13 colors total. One being a skein of black for a tiny bit of back stitching.
Now here's my start below using all colors asked for except the black, and I'm doing mine on off white Aida. Now how pretty is that?

Have also been doing a facecloth or two when I want to do something that requires a lot less attention. Here's the one I did up a couple of days ago. Right now, I'm just storing them for later on little gifts. There are so many nice color combinations.

God is so good and prayers continue to be answered. Another biopsy from Bill's chest came back benign. Prayers from so many wonderful friends and followers have helped through this past year so very much, and I thank you all again.
I see that I have some wonderful new followers through "Grow Your Blog" and I am so very thrilled. I've been looking for my new followers blogs so I can return the visits and do some joining up as well. I look forward to getting to know each one of you as a dear friend. Thank you so much for signing up to follow me.
I see that the icy rain has begun and the wind is still blowing. Thank you for a warm home Father and watch over anyone who has to be on the roads the next couple of days.
Until next time. Stay safe and well. Keep warm and remember to "feel the colors". Love you all.

I'm Linda and am a transplant in NC from NH, where I was born and raised. I've been down here for 10 years now. I'm retired and love people and life itself.
I have many interests, but gardening and cross stitching is at the top of my list for sure. I do many other kinds of needlework as well, but love the threads and the way they create shading and all with cross stitching.
I do have a give away every so often. My last one was a few weeks back and it was for a box of non stitchy items. Just pretty little things that I had picked up and thought would be liked by someone else. My giveaways are always open to everyone. I'll be having another come soon to celebrate spring!
I love my followers and look forward to more, as well as finding some new blogs to follow myself.
Until next time, be safe and well and don't forget to "feel the colors".
People that have several stitching projects going at once amaze me. Seriously! I have day after day where I'm determined to get in some stitching time, but as each day begins to fade I look back and wonder what I did that filled the hours. Filled them to the point that I never sat in my stitching chair at all! Yet there are ladies and men both out there in "Stitcherhood" that have not one or two, but several cross stitch pieces being worked on and they seem to make so much progress on each and every one of them! To each of you that do this. How? I must say that it's people like you that continue to not only amaze me, but inspire me as well. So keep up the great works and check in on me every now and then.
An up date on the motif I'm working on, on "Quaker Diamonds". Still enjoying

the colors here, but at times, wonder if I'll ever get on to a different motif!
I must admit that where I sit and do my stitching is bright and sunny and I have a glass ornament in one of the windows. On a sunny day, this is what I get to see as I stitch.

I did put down my small needle a few days back and took a short break with some larger needles. Did up another face/dish cloth with some yarn that I had put away. These are easy and quick. Fun for a change. Looking at this one now,

makes me think of Easter with all the pastel colors!

Now check this out that I just found online. Can you feel the colors?

I must let you all go this time around. Thank you for stopping in and thank you once again for inspiring me, all my dear friends and followers. When I stop in to visit ya'll, I'm impressed and inspired with your ideas and projects on your homes. The colors you use in so many different ways. Your gardens and gardening ideas. Your fun hobbies and your needle works. Each one of you are so special in so many different ways. Love you all, and until next time, be well and don't forget to "feel the colors".

Yes! There are actually two new moons this month! Today and another on the 30th.. I ran across this when I went to look up the new moon dates for this new year, and went right for my camera! So here's mine for this new moon. Lot's of blues in this one.

Before I do go any further, I want to wish all of my dear friends and followers here a wonderful year ahead. We were thrown a few curves in 2013, but we're doing great now, and had far more blessings than set backs. We have a beautiful new daughter-in-law and our first great grand baby. Bill healed well from his surgery and radiation treatments, and I healed well from our four car pile up. God is so good.
Bill, our good friend Dave and my son and grandson, Guy and Matthew, participated in the Penguin Plunge today in Atlantic City. Here's a picture of all four after they cam out of the water. My son Guy told Matthew to put on the "freezing" face. As a result, they do both look pathetic! All four did real well though.

Got in a little more time this morning on "Quaker Diamonds" and I have all day tomorrow to work on it as well. I'm finding though, that after a couple of hours of the close work, things start to get blurry. Maybe if I wore the Mag-Eyes all the while I stitched, I would see a difference. I'll try that tomorrow.

Thinking about "Quaker Diamonds" and how just by working on one motif at a time will make such a difference. I can get back to all the tiny squares, diamonds, circles and all once the larger parts are done. It is so enjoyable also to see each motif take shape. So, I'm working on what looks to be the largest motif of the piece and I'm liking the colors. So far, here's the one I'm working on right now.
We had a great weekend here.. Misty yesterday but warm and it was a great day to just stay home and relax. I did get in some stitching time and plan on more in just a few minutes.

I went outside just a few minutes ago as I saw some yellow across the yard. I was surprised to see that the Jasmine is in full bloom. I love the beautiful yellow.

This month of beautiful blessings. Family. Friends. Get togethers. Church cantatas and plays. Giving gifts and receiving gifts. No need to go on. Ya'll understand. It is finally coming to an end, with a new year straight ahead. We've been so very busy. The usual with the holiday on top. I even have gifts that still aren't in the mail yet! My family loves me and understands though. Another blessing for sure.
I've been putting the blogging off for too long now. I really don't like not keeping up with what's happening with all my sweet friends and followers here. I also like to keep ya'll updated on what's going on in our lives as well.
Now that Christmas is behind us, I can post a couple of pictures of gifts that I made. First one is the stitched Serenity Prayer. I did post it up to a point, but was afraid that my Bill would decide to drop in here for something different to do, and see the piece. So here it is. All finished and matted and framed. He was so happy with it, and said that he always wondered if I would make him something. Little did he know that the "something" was being made. It took a total of 50 hours and 45 minutes.

Oh! Before I forget! I must show you a picture of Bill and I before Christmas! This was one of the things that kept me from my blog posting! I mean......I had a long list for Santa, and it took time! We had so much fun getting this picture taken. We were with our great friend Dave, and he was making Bill and I both laugh. As my grandson says, "Everyone should know someone like Uncle Dave".

The other gift that I was working on, was this pillow below. It was being made for Dave, and Dave does indeed keep up with my blogging. So for sure, I couldn't post a picture of it before Christmas. This turned out to be a good size pillow. Only 13 total hours which included the finishing and all, but still made with lots of love in every stitch. I'm pretty sure that Dave was quite pleased with it.

I do realize that autumn and its weather has passed. Even though we got up close to 80 degrees this last week. I do have a picture though, that I took in front of Matthew's school that I haven't posted. I liked the fact that it was just simple and had some nice color in it. It is the last of 2013's season of one of the Crepe Myrtles down here. I loved the way the sun just brightened the one leaf up.

Now my dear friends and followers. I must let you go. Please keep in touch. I have missed you all, and it is my wish that you all receive so many wonderful blessings during the new year that is now close by.
Be safe and well and until next time, don't forget to "feel the colors". Love to you all and Happy New Year.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my faithful followers and friends. We're looking forward to dinner at two with my son and his family as well as lots of friends. Always good company and fun. I've got some Buttercup squash baking now and will start another dish later to take. I have so much to be thankful for this day as I think we all do. The good is so easy to overlook sometimes, but for me, this year has had its trials and so far, they have all been taken care of. God is good.
Here's a better picture of one of my cacti. It's been moved to my dining table and so far so good. Haven't had any buds drop. In the past these cacti wouldn't

do a thing for me. They wouldn't die but wouldn't grow either. I could buy one all budded pretty like, and bring it home. Within a week, the buds would drop off the plant and that would be it. No more growth would appear and it would never set buds again. So, needless to say, I'm so happy with these. Here's another that I bought last year and it too is putting on a show of the prettiest colored blossoms.

I've been relaxing here and there by working on the cross stitch piece. Here it is as of last night. I am so close to finishing it up and it has been an enjoyable stitch. Loving the bright colors.

Well the morning is getting on and I have to get a few things finished up here. You all have a wonderful day and safe travels as well. Enjoy the long weekend. Love to each and every one of you my friends and followers.
Until next time, remember to feel those colors.

It has indeed been a chilly day, and it's going to be down around 30 degrees in the morning with showers. I'm not complaining at all though, as I've been reading that a lot of my friends have had snow even! Bill has the wood stove all loaded and ready for that morning fire. It will be warm and cozy inside.
Great grandmothers need to brag a little, so here is a picture of my brand new great grand daughter. Miss Olive Jane was born Thursday and weighed in at 9lb. and 4oz. Of course she lost a few ounces as new babies do and came home at 8lbs., 14oz.. So here she is all dressed up to come home.

Here's Matt, my grandson with her. He's so excited about being an uncle, and this is the first time he has held Miss Olive. Thank you for blessings Father.

Our good friend, "Uncle Dave" has gone to visit with his family over Thanksgiving. We have had some fun Sundays with Dave over the past several weeks, and we'll miss him over the next few days for sure. Some pictures of our outings first. We have such a great time.

To catch up with my cross stitch piece, here is the latest picture of it. I am loving it! Seems to be working up quickly and I love the colors in it. The tower is nearly done, and it will be mostly the verse then. There will also be a tiny amount of outlining as well.

My second shawl is also getting bigger and bigger. Work on it during the late evenings usually when I'm too tired for my cross stitching. I'm enjoying that as well.

Here is a peek at one of my Christmas Cacti. All are so close to being in bloom, and a couple actually are all opened. I'm really thrilled over the fact that after all these years, I have figured out how to grow them. The results are so rewarding.

So many wonderful days but every now and then, one just stands out a little more than others. The day here started out sunny and bright, but now as I glance outside, I see that it's overcast. Checking the weather out, I find that rain is predicted for this evening, but we'll be inside with the fire stove going and it will be toasty warm.
We started the day early and had lunch out with Dave. Going back to Dave's tonight for a nice roast chicken dinner, and I have some apple dumplings in the oven right now for dessert. Many of you have probably made these, and they're so good. Here's what they looked like going into the oven,

and just this minute I took them out and here they are. Save room you two guys.

My whole house smells of cinnamon, apples and sugar. Yum-O!

I've been working on the Christmas gift just about every day. Some days I may only be able to get in fifteen or so minutes, but other days or evenings, I get a couple of hours in. Finally getting into the reds now and some of the light brown grays. I'm enjoying the stitch for sure.

The second shawl is working up with the bright yarn. What a pretty combination of colors. I've decided to take the first shawl out to be blocked and will show you when I get it back. Here's the second one though for now. Fun colors for sure!

My son Guy and Matthew stopped over the other night, and I was able to get

this picture. They were laughing so hard that I was lucky to get it, but it's a great picture of both of them together. They have a great relationship and have so much fun together. I'm very proud of the fathers that both of my sons are, and give God all the credit.

Just for a little color now. I love scarves and of course I love color! You would find me wearing a scarf of one type or another at least 90% of the time. Here is about half of the collection I have. The other half, hangs on the back side of this coat tree. Plus there is another whole layer behind this layer that you can see. Just check out the colors though!

I see that I have a new follower! That's qtknits and I wish I could tell you more about this dear lady. I couldn't find a blog or anything, so please qt, come back and let us get to know you. Do you have a blog or are you on Facebook? Thank you for becoming a follower.

A beautiful week here in this area. Sunny and warm and just a great week. Bill's last full week of radiation. He only has four days left! Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. Every single one has been appreciated. This was taken of Bill just three days ago while we were in a gift shop.

We did have a nice afternoon out that particular day and I got some great pictures with lots of colors! This one below makes me think of Carol over at
http://artandsand.blogspot.com/ She has a lovely blog. Decorates beautifully and has tons of wonderful ideas. Carol loves the primary colors. This was

taken at the same shop that day.
I've gotten in more stitches on my current cross stitch piece. Other colors other than the blues are showing up. Enjoying the stitch.

Decided yesterday that on my way to Myrtle Beach, I would start a second shawl for myself. The first one is so close to being done that it is nearly taking all of the room on the circular needle. So I started the second one on straight needles and went as far as I could on the trip. It's going to be good and bright.

I'll be "modeling" my first shawl in my next post for sure. These shawls work up fast and are very easy. Just think of all of the color combinations out there!
Before I let you all go, I have to tell you that today was another great Sunday. My Bill and I and our good friend Dave, went to the beach after church. A good long walk along the water's edge. Dave even waded in the water. Yes! It was that warm! Just good company and good conversation. Stopped for something to eat on the way home and then had coffee at Dave's. I'm still stuffed by the way! One last picture of the three of us. No. We weren't fishing, but offered to hold some fishing rods belonging to the man who offered to take the picture!

Now I must let you all go. Thank you to all my dear friends and followers that have been so faithful by stopping in and leaving lovely comments. Also, thank you to all for your wonderful thoughts and prayers over the last several months. I am all healed up from our May accident and Bill is down to only four radiation treatments.
Until next post, please stay safe and be well. Take just a minute each day and notice the colors all around you. Then,,,,,"feel" them!
What would we do without them? Needles and Threads that is. Just the beautiful colors and combinations of colors alone are enough to set me off on a new pair of knitted mittens or a shawl. A new cross stitch piece to start, or another crocheted afghan. I did indeed enjoy the baby afghan I just finished up and it was very well liked by the new mom to be, but it didn't take long for me to grab a small needle and my threads to get started on a cross stitched Christmas gift.

Now I can't say what the gift is yet, as the recipient will stop in from time to time, but here is what I've gotten done so far. I love the blues in it and how they turn into waves.

I also crocheted up some coasters. Real quick project and coasters are always good. Here are four of them in the guest room.

I've also started a shawl for myself and have been taking it with me to Bill's radiation appointments. He's in and out so quickly that I know getting my cross stitch out would give me just enough time for only a few stitches. So the knitted shawl is just the thing. Especially with size ten needles. Loving the colors in it.

I want to thank all of my dear friends and followers for the thoughts and prayers for Bill and I both the last several weeks. They all mean so much and they're all helping Bill and I get through this trial with cancer. God is so good and is aware of every thought and prayer. Bill is now over halfway through the radiation treatments and there has been a couple of problems arise from it. Both kind of expected and one was dealt with, with a little help from a topical cream. The other will go away in time.

My little daughter-in-law is recovering from the total knee replacement surgery. Has her therapy every day and she's a hard worker, so she's coming along. I'm very proud of her and how well she's doing.

Matthew, my grandson is also doing great since he has been back home. He loves his new school and he's growing tall. He told me this morning that he kissed a girl! Now, I know all little boys kiss a girl and the first time is quite the deal. Matthew though, is nearly sixteen and is an Asphergian, so this was quite a step for him.

I also want to thank all my followers for stopping in and leaving comments. You've all been very patient for sure as I've fallen behind in answering all of you. I will catch up though for sure. You're all very important to me.

Once again. I'll be headed to my needlework room in just a minute or two to get in some stitching. Please, all of you stay well and safe and until next time, "feel those colors".
I can finally post a picture of the finished baby afghan. The shower was Sunday and a very nice shower it was. Beautiful color theme and lots of great people there. Amanda and Josh got so many beautiful gifts for baby Olive. The
pink was actually a lot brighter than it looks here. My previous post will show the true color far better. The pattern is much clearer here though. I enjoyed making this, but I am very pleased to be back working with all my different colored threads.
An order of threads came yesterday and I now have them all bagged and marked.
Bill has his 21 treatment this morning, and he's doing a fantastic job. Gets tired, but other than that, his body is staying strong and he's looking real good. He has started taking more time for himself in this last month and it has helped him a lot. Today the both of us will have another Yoga lesson, and they have helped us both.

I need to let you all go for now. I've been trying to get back and stay on track with my blogging. I love posting and hearing from my dear friends and followers. You all take care and be well, and once again, "Don't forget to feel the colors".

My mother taught me to knit when I was five years old! I worked all the stitches in the knit stitch on every row. There may have been only a dozen stitches total and I sat and worked those needles. I can remember how uneven the rows were and the holes in the small piece where I had dropped stitches. Needless to say, at five, my interest didn't last that long. Years later though, I picked up some needles again and the first thing I made was a sweater. Now, even more years later, I still enjoy knitting. Not my favorite type of needlework, but I do enjoy it occasionally.
Right now my friends and followers know that I've been working on a baby afghan for my first great grand, and it's very pink. I have put up all my cross stitching until this afghan in done! Oh my!
I was reading yesterday online about using a "lifeline" to rework stitches instead of unraveling row after row until you got to the bad stitches. I had never heard of the lifeline before. This morning, as I'm working on the afghan, I see six rows below the row I'm working on, about five stitches that were purled instead of knitted. Ugh! I'm trying to meet a deadline with this afghan and dreaded pulling it out. Then I thought of that lifeline. So here's how it works. First picture shows you where the bad stitches were.

Here, I have used contrasting yarn in a yarn needle to pick up each stitch a couple of rows under the mistakes.

Now, I start by taking the first stitch off the hook above the mistakes and unravel that one stitch

Then with a crochet hook I pick up that stitch and work back to the top of the piece by grabbing the horizontal yarn of each row and pulling it through the loop.

Place the loop on the left hook and work it with your current row. I started on the stitch to the far right and worked each stitch across in order. Here is the end result and it took me only five minutes to fix all. You can't tell where the bad stitches were. I love this method, and am so glad I found out about it. I hope this will help some of my friends as well.
Just to catch ya'll up on what's going on here at our house. It has been appointments every day, and at times, two or three on the same day. All important though and thankful that we can say that things are being watched and taken care of.
Bill had treatment 11 today and he's doing real well. Only difference he says is the fact that he gets tired a lot. We're fortunate though to be retired, so he can lay down and nap or just rest for a few minutes. Here's a great picture of him, on the right and my "Uncle Dave". Dave is such a great friend to us. Love him lots.
My little daughter-in-law, Robin had a total knee replacement on Monday. and now has a road of healing ahead of her. She has suffered for a long time with that knee situation, so I'm glad it's behind her and that she did so well. Here's a picture of her the day after and still very sedated. I asked her for a thumbs up and she even tried to smile. Love that lady. She'll get me back for posting this one for sure!
As I mentioned a few days ago. I'm working just on an afghan for our first great grand baby, and it's coming right along. I must admit though, that I am missing my cross stitching so very much and all the beautiful colors that I normally work with. In time though. In time.
Matthew has been home for a week or so now and is doing a wonderful job at his new school. Came in first place on a science test the first day he was there. He finishes his homework during the school day if he can, and has got into socializing with a lot of kids there. Something that he was never able to do in the past. He has come a long way.
We really are enjoying this time of year here in eastern NC. Cooler nights and mornings and the sun warms us up during the day. Bill has started some lettuces and broccoli in the raised beds. Some cabbage also. That's his relaxation a good part of the time. We're sleeping out tonight on a couple of cots in the cooler and dryer air. We're looking forward to some fires in the fire pit on cooler evenings. Home made afghans over ourselves during nap times. Fresh apples and cider and lots of comfort foods. Fall is great.
You know how I love colors! This was a beautiful gift from a tender and thoughtful heart this week. Yellow is so inviting. Thank you once again for the beautiful roses.
Matthew's piece was done last Saturday, but this week has been so busy and hectic as well as confusing, that I never picked it up until this morning. Matthew comes home on the 24th., and this will be waiting here for him.

Have been working on the afghan for our great grand daughter due in November. I've kind of put everything else on hold, as I want to get this done in time for the shower. So far.....

The pattern is easy and it's done on size 10 circular needles.

Bill finally started the radiation treatments an is at the third one today. He is already getting tired and I have to urge him to relax more. Please keep him in prayer. Thirty seven more treatments to go.
A beautiful morning here in eastern NC with a beautiful sunrise as well. Temperatures are becoming cooler and you can feel that crisp air moving slowly in. Perfect mornings to sit out on the porch with that first cup of coffee. Even with the weather changing though, I can still see roses blooming and the herb garden out did itself this year. I put in lemon grass this year and had no idea that it would wind up being four feet tall.
Bill finally begins his radiation treatments today. The first of 40 total. I'm glad that the treatments are finally beginning for him. This whole journey started in March, so it's about time for sure. He had to heal up real good from his surgery before they could start though. I just found this picture online at our church's site and wanted to share it. Bill was helping in the kitchen at a back to school bash that the church had.
Yesterday we went to our Yoga class. Only our second time, but we enjoy it so much. Will be unrolling our mats to practice here at home for sure. You sure feel good after one of these sessions and that reminds me! A gift that our son and daughter-in-law gave us before they left for NH. This flea is doing some Yoga himself, and she wanted us to be inspired by him. He does indeed do that, as when I look at him, I remember to check my breathing and my footing. He's a cute little guy at about an overall height of six inches.
Went to Hobby Lobby on Monday and picked up some yarn for a baby afghan. Our first great grand is a baby girl, expected in late November, so pink is perfect. Especially since Olive Jane's room will be pink and brown. So here's the start of the project. A very bright pink indeed.
It's such a small world! My older son, Skeet and my beautiful little daughter-in-law, Lisa flew in Saturday noon for a weeks stay from NH. At the Charlotte airport, they ran into my dear sweet friend Kitty and found out that they were all coming into Havelock on the same flight. I was able to get this picture of all three at the airport here. My younger son, Guy, who lives here in Havelock, was up with his little wife visiting Matthew this last weekend. It's a five hour ride and at a coffee house, turned to return to his car and looked right into his Aunt Pammy's

face. She lives up that way but in a different town than where Matthew is. Needless to say, they had a great parking lot reunion!
I actually went boogie boarding with Bill and Skeet. The waves were so powerful though that it was quite easy to get knocked down. Once down the waves were coming in and breaking so fast, that it was hard to get back up again! It was a fun morning though with a great lunch on the way back home.
All four of us went to Yoga yesterday. Lisa knows her stuff and Skeet does pretty good himself. It was our first time though and I was surprised that I couldn't do a couple of things better. It was only our first time though, and we're both looking forward to getting back next week. We'll get some practice in before then for sure.
I believe I've made the prettiest washcloth yet! I just love all the vibrant colors in this one. If any of my dear friends and followers here, know of a real
good online sale for the Sugar 'n Cream yarn, please let me know. There are so many beautiful colors and patterns in the yarn.
Some spooky things are happening here also this week. I started the "Spider Banner" and here's what I have so far. Just the beginning of the big old fat spider itself! Though the chart is hard to see, I believe I'll get this done in time for Halloween.
I decided to put out the fall things as well as the Halloween and the Thanksgiving. Sounds like I'm trying to rush things a bit, but I love all the colors and ribbons to match.
Have my framed "Autumn Harvest" back up as well.
I was going to add a couple more pictures of the Sea Oats at the beach. Love them, but it looks like I've used up my quota of pictures for this time around. Next time for sure.
Added another little goody in my giveaway box. Drawing is on the 26th.
Until next time my dear friends and followers. Be well and safe, and don't forget to "feel the colors".
