This time of year I think of the wonderful memories of Thanksgivings passed. As far back as I can remember, my mother did it all. All the meal planning. The prep work. The cooking. Table setting. The whole thing. Even when asked if we could help, our job was basically to stay out of the way. Were we pests? Noooo. Hmmm. Maybe a little. My mother was a fantastic cook year round, and eventually, when she found out that she was diabetic and had to have a shot every day, as well as watch what she ate her cooking remained the same for the rest of the family. I would come home from school to beautiful pies, cakes and fudge. She never touched any of them herself, but reminded us that we could still have them.
Happy Thanksgiving to all. I'm enjoying it this year with my little daughter-in-law's family. The turkey won't be the only stuffed creature that day, as I plan on eating until I can't move!
