Critters!

Wildlife comes in all shapes and sizes here in NC.  It always interests me as well.  Being from NH, the things I see down here are often new to me.  Some I'm used to but still need to take pictures.  Some pictures don't come out so good.  Like this tree frog I found on the door last night.  He was actually only a couple of inches long and didn't seem to be bothered by me at all.

Got a better picture of a small snake that we see occasionally in our yard.  Harmless and they're usually about eight inches long.  They like cooler dark places to hide.  They don't bite.

These two coleuses were both started from cuttings and I'm going to see if I can get them through the winter inside.  The one with the smaller leaves looks so pitiful, but I'll be snipping it back through the winter in hopes to get more cuttings to grow to make it all fill out and fill in.  We'll see as time goes on, and for now they can stay outside for another few weeks.  Come spring, we'll have a nice new shady area out back to put them for the warmer months.

Well as you can see my dear followers, I've changed my blog look.  Gone are the light blues and greens for the warmer seasons, and here are the warmer colors for the autumn months.  I'm already thinking about pots of stews and soups, and have a pot of pinto beans on now.  The air has been cooler with a great breeze for the last couple of days, and we're loving it.

The little piece that I'm working on is coming along good.  Just plain love the bright fall colors and this will make a sweet pillow when finished.

A perfect day today to plant my beauty berry bush as well as a couple of other smaller perennials.  We've already drained our small pool and Bill is talking about putting in some cooler weather veggies.  Of course he's still in a sling so we'll see about the planting and all.  I stacked wood a good part of yesterday and Bill even stacked.  Will be stacking more today.  Staying busy for sure and getting ready for cooler weather.

I must let all my sweet followers go for the time being.  Please let me know if my new format is easy on the eyes and easy to read as well.  I have no problems changing anything if need be.  So until next time, be well and be safe and remember to "feel the colors".  Love each of you dear friends.

    1. Hi Nancy and thank you for stopping by. The snack was being held by Bill, but they are very harmless and quite wiggly. Thank you for the comments on my new look for my blog and the little piece that I'm working on. I love working with all these bright colors.

I was back over to your blog to see if you were back to posting yet. I do love your blog and hope that soon you'll feel up to it again.

    1. Oh my goodness! I had a good laugh too before I changed it! I'm still wondering though if I should change it back to snack and add something about soy sauce or something. LOL. Snack snakes simmered in sweetened soy sauce! Oh my!

We will indeed meet in person one day. I just have to be a little more adventurous! I know that there is a get together every now and then in NC, but it's a good drive for me. I just need to make the plans to go and follow through with it. I think it would be such a fun day.

You have a blessed weekend. Yes! The weekend is nearly here again!

Come back soon dear friend. Love you lots.

    1. Hi Carol~I'm loving the fall piece I'm working on. It works up quickly and what more can I say about the colors other than they're bright and beautiful? The snake really is a tiny little guy. The never get any bigger than what is pictured, but I know a lot of people aren't crazy about snakes in any way.
Thank you so much for stopping in.

    1. Good morning Tammy~You're just like me. I love all colors! I love the way you can take the threads and when stitched you can actually see shadows and hi-lites in your pieces. Color always amazes me.

Thanks for coming by Tammy and have a wonderful weekend.

    1. Hi Bonnie~
Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving such nice comments. Did you catch the site address for the chart for the leaves? It's on a previous post of mine. I've enjoyed working with the colors. You can use any colors you want and I decided to go with the fall ones.
Come back soon and have a wonderful weekend.

  8. You should do well with your Coleus. Here in the UK, it is a houseplant!

    1. Hi Jayne and thank you for stopping in. Since you keep the Coleus inside, do you snip them back now and again to keep them full? I'm looking forward to giving these a try.
