Just a Night at Home

     We find that we've been busier that usual.  Just lots going on, and to have an evening that just a kick back and relax evening feels so good.  I had picked up some collards yesterday and decided earlier today to get them ready for tonight's dinner.  I like meals that go together easy, so to have these all ready cleaned and cut and all is a big help.  I don't know how my dear readers and followers make up their collards, or even if they're liked, but we love them.  I cooked them up in a little chicken broth.  Salt and pepper and crushed thyme.  Once all cooked up I add about a tablespoon of vinegar.  This time I cut up a little bit of ham left over from Thanksgiving.  A before and an after picture! I cooked enough so we had some for the next day as well.

     After dinner, and close to Matthew's bedtime, we decided to make some popcorn.  Now this, I have to tell you was and has been quite the treat for him.  The only kind of popcorn he has had is Jiffy Pop and the popcorn that you throw into the microwave.  So when I grabbed the jar of popcorn, he just couldn't believe that these kernels were really going to turn into popcorn!  He thought it was great when he could see them through the openings in the lid popping.

Once the popped corn was in a bowl, we all enjoyed it, and he was pretty proud of himself for pulling it off!

     Ran to WalMart today.  I thought for sure that they would have some Christmas fabric in, but didn't see any at all.  I did however find a piece of pretty fabric for a pin cushion I've been wanting to finish up.  This will be a gift when done.

This will be quick and fun to make up.  I'll be filling it with crushed walnut shells.

     I'm also making more scarves like I made last year.  Haven't made one for myself yet and I do love these.  Maybe after Christmas and all.  Here's the one I'm working on now and it will be a gift also.  These are done with the Bella yarn which is so soft and it forms the ruffles as it works up.  Only eight stitches per row.  The picture makes it look like there is a little blue in it, but there isn't.  Black

and white with all the colors between.  Very pretty.
