This and That

After a busy Easter week with all the services and a beautiful cantata, as well as a wonderful family get together, things are somewhat back to normal.  Some of the earlier blooming cherry trees, have come and gone with later blooming ones taking their places.  Driving through our area of North Carolina right now, you'll see pink cherry trees in bloom and the native ornamental pear trees looking like mounds of fluffy snow.  Of course all of the spring bulb flowers have been in bloom for several weeks now and some of my garden perennials are blooming even.  What a beautiful time of the year.

The tiny lizards here are molting now and Matthew wanted me to get a good picture of one on the back of the house.  Nothing to do with needlework I know, but there are all kinds of interesting

things going on around here.  Matthew is certainly getting bigger for sure and is doing quite well.

Which makes me think! This is National Autism Week, so please keep all of the precious people that are on the scale in prayer.  Including Matthew.  The simple things are the hardest for these kids and adults.

We still have Camellias in bloom here and I picked this one yesterday to have inside.  What a

great shade of pink! Every year I threaten to move it to a location where it would get more sun, and every year it blooms more and more.  So I think it will indeed stay where it is.  Morning sun is best and that's what it has!

I put aside my "Quaker Diamonds" for a couple of nights to get this freebie done up.  Took four hours and 45 minutes total to complete it.  I'll make it into a small pillow later in the season.  It will

be back to my diamonds this evening with so many beautiful colors to work with.

One last thing! I also took a little time to make this crocheted necklace.  Another freebie on Ravelry.com for those of my sweet followers who knit and/or crochet.  I chose the purple because the lady who mentioned it, mentioned purple.  It was very quick and very easy.  Made with all cotton yarn so it will feel good when worn.  No itchy neck!

I know I said that the necklace was the one last thing that I wanted to mention, but even more important and something that I didn't want to forget is my new follower, Karen.  A sweet lady with a nice blog over at   http://mystitchyramblings.blogspot.com/.  She does beautiful work and just had a great giveaway.  Please do check her blog out and enjoy her great work.  Thank you again Karen for joining up to follow me here on my blog.

Will let ya'll go for now.  Close to supper here and directly afterwards I'll be bonding with my needle and threads!  Thank you to all my sweet friends and followers here for stopping in.  You're important to me and I love every one of you!  Have a wonderful week and remember to stop and "Feel the colors".

  2. That lizard is interesting...very different from the kind we have here. Makes me curious about where you live. It looks like a lizard from a wetter climate than here. The camellia is very pretty. I love camellias. Have a wonderful week!

    1. I'm in eastern NC. About 20 miles from the ocean. I love the camellias also and the fact that they actually bloom in the winter is so cool. Thank you for stopping in.

  3. Your flowers and stitching are making me think of spring and summer and warm weather. I think the very chilly robin in my front yard is thinking about it too!! I received the Lizzie Kate pattern today. YAY! Thank you so much! I am looking forward to kitting it up. I have LK's Promise Me in line next and then I hope to stitch the one you sent. : )

    Blessings!

    1. Glad the chart arrived and hope you enjoy the stitch as much as I did. I really like "Promise Me". I think Lizzie Kate has to be a favorite designer of mine for sure. You have a great week and thank you for stopping in.

  4. I have been doing a bit of crocheting lately. I bought some white quilted fabric to make placemats, but the ruffle I purchased to sew on was a "pain in the _ _ _ _" to sew on. I decided to crochet around the oval placemats. I love how they turned out, but I am reluctant to use them because I don't want them to get stained after my hard work. The little bit of edging makes me eager to get going on another real crochet project, but I don't know what.

    1. Hi Carol~ Thank you so much for stopping in. I know exactly how you feel about your place mats. I would hate the thought of them getting stained after you put so much into them. I was wondering,,,,,,. What about spraying them real good with Scotch Guard? I have also found that when I spill something, and yes, I too spill things, I throw it into a pan of water right away with some Oxiclean. I then put it through the wash, and I've had real good luck with this procedure. I'm headed back over to your place to see if I missed a picture of the place mats. You did take pictures, right?

  5. Aha! I was right about that beautiful stitching in your other post being Quaker designs, and the interesting thing is I just ordered that Quaker Diamonds chart and Valdani flosses for it not too long ago (still waiting for it to arrive). I love it even more now that I've seen yours close up and can really see the colors and the designs used in it.
Matthew is quite observant to catch those lizards molting! My yard here in Florida is full of them, and I've never once seen one molting like that before! Amazing the things that are taking place around us every minute that we just too often don't stop to notice, huh? Beautiful camellias, too! Really pretty. Spring is in the air! Have a great weekend!

    1. Hi Kevin!
Thank you so much for deciding to be a follower. I've admired your stitching over on Facebook for a long time now and what fantastic work you do.
I'm using all the Valdani threads also on "Quaker Diamonds", and I know you'll be glad you are as well. The colors are so rich and the way the colors change just brings so much to the piece itself. I love all the colors. You'll have to keep us all updated on your blog as well as on Facebook.
Matthew has always loved anything to do with science, so though I was surprised to see this lizard, I wasn't surprised that he was the one to see it first. He is one that always has his eyes opened to see all of the nature around us.
Again Kevin. Welcome and thank you for stopping in.
