This and That

What a week!  Bill's regular dentist sent him to a specialist to check on a tooth that had been bothering him off and on for at least two years.  Regular dentist never saw anything from the x-rays he would take.  There's a crown on the tooth but nothing ever shown up in the roots.  So he would up getting a root canal that very day.  Wednesday.  So on top of healing from his surgery he is dealing with what's left of infection from the tooth.  He had been on antibiotics for several days after the surgery to begin with.  A few other issues have come up due to the type of surgery he had, so it really has been a tough and slow recovery for him.  We're waiting on news from the surgeon here about some slides sent to John Hopkins Hospital.  We'll call our regular doctor tomorrow also to just get her take on a couple of things.  So, all my prayer warrior friends and followers, please keep Bill in prayer.

Our best friend, "Uncle Dave", met us after Bill's appointment the other day and he made our day with a great lunch at Arturo's in New Bern.  Here's a great picture of Dave.  Handsome indeed!

Another of Dave and I.

The last of Billy and I.  We had so much fun.  Thank you again Uncle Dave.

Oh my goodness! Found some flowers in an abandoned lot in the woods close to home the other day.  Such a shame that no one was enjoying them, so I decided to adopt them.  They grow from a bulb and are the deepest orange.  Can anyone tell me what they are? I brought them home and planted them in a pot for now, and they never seemed to have noticed.  Here's a couple of pictures of the "unknown" flower.

A close up as well.  The diameter of each flower is only about two inches at the most.  Anyone know?

Picked five gallon bags of tomatoes for the freezer the other day.  Never room in the freezer when you need it, so carted them over to my son's.  All that I did pick were the plum tomatoes, and there are more out there still.  Also, we have a couple of other kinds and they did great this year.

Then to the blueberries which are in the freezer now.  We only have one bush of them, and I still miss the wild blueberries in NH and Maine, but these are big and sweet.

Now for the stitching part of my week! I have really been enjoying knitting up the washcloths.  They only take about an hour to complete and there are so many great color combos!  I've given one away and here are the rest so far.  I usually work on these at night or when we're in waiting for a doctor.  Easy, peasy.

I've been working on my small freebie as well during the day usually.  It is really going slow with as much running around that we've been doing, but as of last night, I just have the wording left to do! Though I love the colorway and all, it will be nice to move on to something else when done.

So after a busy week.  A week of appointments and trying to heal for Bill.  A week of at least a couple of good downpours nearly every day.  It's Sunday! A day to worship and thank our Father for all of the blessings He has given us.  For being right there with us in all that we are going through and for being such a great hands on dad.

Until next time my dear friends and followers, please, please be safe and well.  I'm looking forward to checking out your blogs and seeing what is going on in your lives.  Love each and every one of you.  Until next time again, don't forget to "feel the colors".

  1. Thats a sweet design youre stitching. We all know what it feels like to want to be done and on to something else, though! Sorry, but I'd be last person to identify your lovely "new" flower. Your gardening and freezing are wonderful; it will be yummy for you to have the taste of summer when it's cold again. Last but far from least, I'll certainly be praying for Bill (and you, dear).

    1. Thank you so much for keeping Bill in prayer. He may have a long way to go yet and is still trying to heal up from the surgery. When I used to can a lot, and we'd open a jar of green beans, yellow beans or anything else I had done up, Bill would always say that it was like opening up a jar of sunshine.
      You have a wonderful week.

    Lovely tomatoes and blueberries, delicious!
Your photos are great and I'm sorry to hear about Bill's tooth, he has certainly been through the mill poor thing, he will be in my prayers.
Your mystery plant looks like the crocosmia plant that we have in our garden, I think it may be one of those. Beautiful isn't it?
I hope you have a good week (:

Meggie above knew what the flower was and it's still blooming. You have a wonderful week Shirlee and thank you for the continued prayers.

  7. I'm not positive the name of the flower, but I have a red one in my front planter. It blooms abundantly and then is dormant for awhile. The flowers are the most amazing shade of red. It just keeps getting bigger and bigger each year.

Have I ever told you that I like your profile picture? You look quite sassy!

    1. The flower is a crocosmia! Meggie above gave me the name of it, and what great news that it just keeps getting bigger. Are you saying that the bulbs multiply? Goody! These are so bright and cheery.

Sassy? Well thank you. I take that, at my age, as a compliment indeed!

I just took a peek at your latest post and I need to get right back there. I love all the pictures.
