What Happened to August?

I cannot believe that August is just about half over.  Where did it go? Looking back over this month, I do realize just how many doctor and dentist appointments there were.  Keep Bill in prayer please.  Next week we'll find out when his radiation treatments start and exactly how many.  It has been so busy, but a good month as well.  Bill healed well from his surgery, and though that one tooth really gave him so much pain, it is indeed all good now.

I just got back from a weekend trip up to Virginia to see my grandson Matthew.  He has grown so much and was pretty proud of the fact that he has what he calls a mustache now! Talk about peach fuzz! We did have a wonderful weekend with him.  My son and I went up.  First time for me since Matthew has been there and I was very impressed.  The staff people are wonderful.  You can tell that they enjoy working with the kids.  There are nurses on hand 24/7 and Matthew sees his therapist just about every day.  He's learning to use his "tools" to cope with life itself.  Some of the tools but not all are, deep breathing, walking away from the situation, talking about his feelings at the moment, etc.  For those who don't know....Matthew is in the autism spectrum with aspergers.  Very high functioning but has difficulties with socializing and dealing with his feelings.  He should be home once again in a month or so.  Here's the first picture taken of me and Matt after we arrived.

One of Matthew and his Dad, who is my younger son.

It was a great weekend.  Lots of good food.  Lots of fun places to go and things to do.  You'll notice that on the back of the chairs above, it says, "Yankee Candle Village", and that's one of the places Matt wanted to take me.  A huge place and so much inside to see.  The picture below doesn't show the whole building even!

We went on a nature trail to just relax.  A "Sticks, Stones and Bones" store which Matthew loves and I found some neat little gifts in there to put away for Christmas.  Just had a busy time and lots of fun together.

Did up a couple more wash cloths on the trip up and back, so the stack is growing.  These too will be gifts.  I also went into a Joanne's over the weekend and saw all kinds of color combos in this same yarn, so there will be more in my future I think.  Just may have to include one in my giveaway.

Got a little more done on "Promise Me", and  I completely failed at getting it done once again.  Here's another section of it though, and I am still enjoying the stitch.

The garden this year is just about finished up.  We do still have some tomatoes coming and carrots are ready.  Bill is cleaning out as things go by.  This was a good season.  Now the time is approaching when spiders are about in huge webs.  Will leave this picture on the small side, but these are every where now.

Signs of the Swallow Tail are also making a feast of my flat leafed parsley.  By the way.  After you pick these off your parsley, if you choose to do so, you'll find that they smell awful!

There are also, butterflies every where!

I'll be posting again tomorrow to let you know about my giveaway.  It will be a fun thing for me to be able to fill a fun package full of pretty little things for someone to enjoy.

Until then, please be careful and be well.  Once again my sweet friends and followers, don't forget to "feel the colors".  Love you all.

  2. Oh LindaLee, what a lovely post! I am glad your husband is on the mend ... I am continuing to keep him in my prayers. What a handsome son & grandson you have! I'm so glad that Matthew is learning coping skills & can come home soon! I'm sure he misses being home. What fun you must have had shopping! I always admire your dishcloths. You ought to sell them if you don't already : ) Lovely stitching too! The photos of the butterflies are pretty but I get a shiver out of just seeing a photo of a spider! He looks like a rather menacing one! Hope you are having a great week!

    1. What a lovely comment Shirlee, and thank you for the prayers. They are so appreciated and they help so much. Matthew will have a mentor when he does come home. Someone we know who is a wonderful friend of ours and a good, good person. Matt does indeed miss home, and Sunday afternoons are hard for him, knowing he won't have anymore visits until the next weekend. We do call him nearly every night though. I don't sell the cloths Shirlee. I enjoy making them though and like to give them as gifts. Thank you so much for stopping in. Have a blessed week.

    1. Thank you so much Cynthia for checking in on me. It seems that ever since we had the accident in May things just haven't seemed to slow down yet. We're getting there though.

  10. Looks like you had a very special weekend with two special men in your life. Glad to hear that your grandson is learning to cope. It can't be easy to live with Asperger's.

  11. Glad to hear that your grandson has a great place to support him with life. My four year old has ASD and attends a lovely school which will take him until he is 18 if he needs the help they offer. It's only three miles down the road too which is a bonus, they take children from upto 20 miles away so we are lucky it's close to us.

Sending healing wishes to your hubby.
