Bring It On

The spring weather that is! The spring weather and all that goes with it here in eastern North Carolina.  Those little bugs that bite when you're out working in the soil.  Some people call them no see em's.  The wild onions that you can smell when people mow their lawns.  The big old fat polliwogs in the drainage areas.  The wild rabbits running through the yards.  The fierce thunder storms.  Yeap.  Bring it all on.  We're ready.  We're ready to work in the soil.  To plant.  To fill the pool again.  To bring projects outside to work on.  For the colors to pop in the trees and in the yards.  I'm ready! Everyone with me?

As you can see, I've changed the look of my blog again.  Valentine's Day has come and gone, so thought I would show you the spring display I have so far.  I'll be picking up some little things to make it more festive.  I love making the little pillows though.

I finished my painted desert lace shawl and I loved the way the yarn formed stripes as you went.  I love the color combinations in this particular color as well.  Now! Once blocked, it will be approximately 22 by 48 inches.  Well, believe me, there is some blocking to be done for sure! Here is the whole 18 by 39 inches of it right now.  I did have a good laugh when I bound the stitches off and opened it up! I'll be making myself a blocking board to stretch this on.  I'd love to make a couple more of them in different colors.  Only takes one skein of yarn total.  When this is blocked and all, I'll post a new picture.

I am very excited as a Hobby Lobby store is opening March 1st. in Morehead City.  Only about 20 minutes away.  I've already told Mr. Bill that I'd be spending the weekend there next weekend! I can hardly wait!

One more picture of our cherry tree outback before I go.  It was just humming this whole week from the honey bees in it.  Very showy this year for sure.  I went out yesterday with a pink jersey on, and within seconds, I had four bees on me before I realized that they thought I was another tree!

I'll be finishing my wedding sampler this coming week I believe and will decide what I'll be stitching next.  I love that feeling you get when you get close to the end of one piece.  I find that I push a little harder and go a little faster until I'm done.  Every bit as satisfying as having a brand new piece of fabric in your lap with a new chart and threads.

For now my sweet friends and followers, I'll let you go.  Have a wonderful weekend full of lots of great events and surprises.  Stay safe and warm and last but not least, "Don't forget to feel the colors."

  1. Hi Linda, Your post really makes me think of Spring as I look out my window at the snow. I finally went out of the house today, but only to the mail box. Have just been talking with Hubby on the phone instead of going to see him. The snow came fast and furious yesterday. I just got my driveway plowed when the city went up the street to refill the end of my driveway. The way the weather had started I thought we were maybe going to have an early Spring no such luck. I will just watch your flowers bloom. I like the shawl you are working on. Have a wonderful weekend. Your Missouri Friend.

    1. Hi Shirley. I can still see the big plows coming along and doing to our driveway in NH exactly what you're talking about. I would be so frustrated. I just plain do not miss the snow in any way. I would sit in my kitchen and look out over my yard and think about the flowers under all the snow out there. Winter seemed so long. It's February and nearly March now though Shirley, so it won't be long.
Thank you for coming by Shirley and you have a wonderful weekend.

    1. Hi Wilma. This is supposed to be a rainy weekend, so that tree will probably be "pinkless" come Monday. We do enjoy it while it lasts though.

      Thank you for visiting girlfriend.
