More Done Plus!

A little more done on the piece I'm cross stitching.  I would ordinarily be embarrassed as to how little I've worked on it, but there has been so much going on, and everything takes away a little more of my stitching time.  This is where I'm at right now.

All my dear followers and friends here know how much I've enjoyed knitting these scarves from Starbella yarn, but always hated it when the yarn would start twisting and getting tangled on me.  Well where there's a will, there's a way!  I found that by wrapping the yarn around a large can or a large filled soda bottle first, the yarn won't tangle.  I say filled soda bottle as the weight is needed.  Wrap the yarn around the bottle neatly with no twists in it and as you work with the yarn, turn the bottle, or can to let the yarn loose.  Don't just tug it off the bottle as it will twist on you if you do.  Here's a picture of the whole thing below as well as a peak at how the yarn is working up.

I just have to remind myself when I go looking for my canned tomatoes, where they are! LOL.  I swear that every scarf I make, I claim that it's the prettiest so far, and I'm saying the same thing again.  I love the color combinations in this one.

I spent three hours at our new Hobby Lobby in Morehead City this morning and loved every minute of our visit.  Have always loved that store and to have one so close is a real treat.  One of the things I picked up was the supplies needed to make my own blocking board for my knitting.  I'm looking forward on starting it and getting my shawl blocked finally.  I'm hoping a before and an after blocking picture will show quite a difference.  Time will tell, but all I needed was some 1/2 inch foam board and material that had one ince blocks on it.  I have the duck tape and an old beach towel, so I'm ready to go.  Picked up the pins needed to hold the knitted pieces in place also.

While at Hobby Lobby, I picked up the yarn I will need for my collared cape.  I really couldn't decide on a color and finally went for off white.  Goes with everything, right? Good thinking on my part! This is made with bulky yarn and a size 10 circular needle.  All in one piece also.  Works up real quick I'm told.  We'll see about that!

Just a couple non stitchy things.  I made up two peanut butter pies the other night.  One for us and one for my son and his family.  Oh! My! Goodness! Is as sweet and rich as peanut butter fudge.  So glad I saved the recipe.  Has a chocolate pre made crust.

Early evening last night I happened to look out back and saw this! Is God amazing or what?

I wonder if anyone would notice if I cut some of the trees down to get a better view?

Well my dear friends.  I'm going to let you go again and sit down and bond with my stitching for a while.  I think I can hear it calling my name! Until next time, please be safe and well and remember to "feel the colors".  Love you all and thank you for stopping in.

  1. You've been busy!

Thanks for the tip about the yarn. I haven't knitted in (literally) decades but have to try one of those scarves. My stumbling block is not finding the yarn but I'll figure it out soon, I hope.

    1. I always get mine at Michaels, Rita. I "heard" though that the yarn was going to be a seasonal thing though, so they may not be stocking again until fall. It's worth a look though. There is also the Sashey yarn, but I find that this doesn't seem as full when worked up.

Thank you so much for stopping in Rita.

    1. Hi Debbie. Thank you for stopping in. You're so right. The trees would indeed be missed. They're in a wildlife refuge also and cannot be touched. I'm liking the colors in this scarf also. Nice and bright. The pie was indeed good and it's gone! LOL

  3. That cross stitch is going to be such a great gift that they will always treasure! I have a cross stitch my mom made for us and our wedding and it hangs in our bedroom. It's very special.

I love the colors in this scarf. Great idea you found to keep the "yarn" from twisting. That can be annoying.

    Happy stitching!
